James Stewart is gaining momentum. After dominating in Orlando, he came into the inaugural Detroit supercross and carried on where he left off, grabbing the early lead and taking off, leaving Chad Reed and Ricky Carmichael to squabble over second.Carmichael started well behind, but caught and passed the injured Reed around the halfway point. But Reed didn’t give up easily and found his way back around Carmichael when RC got hung up with a lapper.Eventually, Carmichael caught back up and passed Reed for the runner-up spot, and that’s how they finished.Ivan Tedesco found his way around Nick Wey for fourth, while Wey and Michael Byrne went down together on the last lap. Wey got up first, scoring fifth, while Byrne was sixth.Supercross Main Event Results

After crashing out of round one, he has come back to equal Davi Millsaps’ 3 wins on the season heading into the series finale with a win in Detroit. Unfortunately for Grant, though, his first-round DNF has him 22 points behind Millsaps with only one round remaining.Mathematically, Millsaps needs to finish 17th or better next week in Houston to clinch the title.
Grant got out front early in the Detroit main, and Millsaps didn’t. By the time Millsaps got into second, Grant was well away, and the race for the win was over.Bobby Kiniry ran third for much of the main event until he threw it away only feet from the finish, handing third to Chris Gosselaar.
