Adventurers rejoice, The Super Ténéré is coming to America. Yamaha’s adventure touring monster, previously available only overseas will make a landing early next year, the first of the 2012s. And it is showing up for a very competitive $13,900 MSRP. The all-new 1199cc parallel twin with a 270° is slim and tuned for torque. It’s feature list looks like a tit-for-tat against the big players in the adventure game, the BMW GS and the KTM 990. The Yamaha has a six-speed wide-ratio transmission, ABS and unified brakes, tunable traction control, a large six-gallon fuel tank, 17-inch rear and 19-inch front wheels, traction control, shaft drive, decent suspension travel and a comparatively low seat height. It features some Yamaha advances like a fly-by-wire throttle system and the close firing of the pistons to simulate a big Single without the vibration. Yamaha has not forgot about the luggage and accessories if this machine, such an important part of the package and GYTR will have a ton of stuff available at the time of release. And speaking of release, this bike is being sold on a pre-order basis only, so if you are interested, you’ll have to act quicker than just waiting to see one on the dealers showroom. The Ténéré will be sold via pre-delivery deposit program running September 2010 to March 2011 for delivery in May of 2011. We should be riding some early production bikes in the near future, so keep tuned to www.dirtrider.com to find out about the ride! Here is what Yamaha has to say about the 2012 Super Ténéré:
