The Big Jump: The Tao of Travis Pastrana, 126 pages dedicated to the action sports hero, will be on-sale at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open for $21.95.
Travis Pastrana knows no bounds. If that wasn’t clear in 1999, when he launched his motorcycle into the San Francisco Bay after winning his first X Games gold, or three years later when he back flipped his bike into the Grand Canyon (on purpose), then it will be when the motocross superstar makes his biggest leap yet with The Big Jump: The Tao of Travis Pastrana.
In The Big Jump, Pastrana reveals for the first time the methods (and madness) that drive him to accomplish such amazing feats. Each chapter builds to his latest heart-stopping accomplishment, including the “impossible” double backflip performed during X Games 12–the trick brought him not just gold, but legend certification.
With a foreword by Mat Hoffman, contributions by Bob Burnquist, Ryan Scheckler, and Kenny Bartram – as well as scores of never-before-seen photos and memorabilia from Pastrana’s own collection, The Big Jump is a fuel-injected ride into the heart and mind of Travis Pastrana.
Author bios:
Travis Pastrana is the most celebrated freestyle motocross rider in the world. At 14, he was the youngest World Freestyle Motocross champion, and at 17 was the youngest rider ever to represent Team USA in the Motocross des Nations. He is the only rider ever to perform a double backflip on a dirt bike in competition, and in October 2006, at 23, became the youngest American Rally Car champion in the sport’s long history. He still lives in Davidsonville, Maryland, a few minutes from his grandmother’s home.
Alyssa Roenigk is an editor at ESPN The Magazine. While covering action sports for the magazine and EXPN.com, she’s committed countless acts of recklessness, not least of which was jumping a go-kart into Pastrana’s foam pit. A Floridian at heart and a Pennsylvanian by birth, she now lives in New York City, but spends little time at home.
