No Penalties for Langston, AlessiAMA Pro Racing officials have reviewed the incident surrounding Grant Langston and Mike Alessi which occurred on the last lap of the second 125 moto at last Sunday’s opening round of the AMA Motocross Championship presented by FMF. The event, The Hangtown Classic, round one of the 12-round championship was held at Prairie City SVRA Park near Sacramento, Calif.
Both riders went down after colliding on the track. Langston was able to remount and cross the finish line in first place with Alessi eventually crossing the line in 15th place.
Using videotape and still photos of the incident as well as interviewing course workers and race officials, AMA Pro Racing Motocross/Supercross Series Manager Steve Whitelock has decided that no penalties will be issued.
“While it may have been aggressive riding, it wasn’t overly aggressive riding,” commented Whitelock. “In the riders’ meeting at round two, we’ll be reviewing the matter to make sure everyone clearly understands what constitutes rough riding. We want to make sure this situation doesn’t escalate.”
