Welcome to the Weekly Dirt, the place to go for the inside scoop on all the dirty things we love about this sport. Let’s jump right into it:
The GEICO EnduroCross series stomped through Ontario (California, not Canada, but good thinking) this past weekend, and KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak continues to show that he is the man to beat indoors. Cody Webb showed some incredible speed as well, even leading at one point in the main, but in the end there was no stopping the Polish Nightmare. X Games Enduro-X Gold Medalist Mike Brown had an off night, having to go through the LCQ to secure a spot in the main event. The series seems to be gaining in excitement as it progresses, and we can only imagine what the finals in Las Vegas will be like! Check out http://www.dirtrider.com/features/ontario-endurocross-what-really-happened/ to read a full report on what went down in Ontario, click on http://youtu.be/riqv3c9pqb8 for a cool helmet cam video made by Dirt Rider’s Adam Booth, and go to www.endurocross.com to get more information about the upcoming rounds in Denver (Oct. 6), Everett (Oct. 20), Boise (Oct. 27) and Vegas (Nov. 17).
Almost as impressive as Taddy’s convincing EnduroCross win was the strong main event finish put forth by Destry Abbott. After sneaking into the main via a great heat race finish, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was on a plane to Germany less than 12 hours after the main event. His destination? The International Six Days Enduro, where Destry and a squad of America’s best off-road racers will compete for Gold Medals and International bragging rights against the world’s fastest enduro specialists. Stay tuned to www.dirtrider.com for daily updates from the ISDE.
This week’s BTO Sports/ Racer X podcast featured special guest and longtime Dirt Rider test rider Kris Keefer chatting with host Steve Matthes and fellow industry insider David Pingree about the 2013 MX bikes. Keefer, who has been testing for DR for the better part of a decade, knows these machines inside and out and was happy to give his honest impression. If you have some driving time to kill or are able to listen at work, click the following week and hear what these guys have to say! http://bit.ly/Po0jik

Online message boards are buzzing about a possible two-stroke off-road model from Beta, and we’ve finally secured a photo! Credible sources have confirmed that Beta is in fact planning on releasing not one but two new premix burning models in the near future. The company is aiming to produce 250cc and 300cc models that will feature unique Beta engines while taking chassis, styling and ergonomic cues from Beta’s existing four-stroke line. Could these machines be a threat to the KTM/Husaberg dynasty? Only time will tell! But for now, check out www.americanbeta.com for updates and info.
