Jimmy vs. Jimmy
I am 16 years old and I purchased a 07' KTM 250 XCF, I chose it over the more comfortably fitting CRF 250 R. I sat well atop the Honda, much more comfortable then the KTM. I liked the KTM's, unique at the time, electric start. When I got my KTM home I quickly scraped up a list of parts I would need to protect my investment. A skid plate, sprocket protectors, new handlebars (opposed to the poorly positioned stock bars) and a pair of good old bark busters or hand guards. So I started ordering the OEM parts from KTM, not the aftermarket parts that would have been available with the Honda. Only the skid plate was received at my door, the rest were on back order. At least I got that I figured, so I set off to my garage to put it on the bike, later to find that the skid plate didn't fit the mold of the frame. Furiously I tried to self-mold the plate, snapping it in the process. I gave up with OEM KTM parts after not receiving my back ordered parts after 8 MONTHS!!! I started to think if I have made the right choice going with the KTM rather then the Honda? But instead of trading in my KTM I kept it and decided to deal with the difficulties of finding parts. It would be greatly appreciated if you could give me suggestions where I could find parts for my KTM 250 XCF.

Look inside Dirt Rider magazine. There are plenty of ads (the stuff everyone hates, right?) that will point you in the right direction. Just in a quick glance at a recent issue I saw an ad for a skid plate company and there are plenty for bars, chains and sprockets. And I can think of at least a few Dream Rides in the last few years that have had all of the stuff you are looking at getting already on the bikes for your viewing pleasure. Personally I don't see that much, if any, gap in the aftermarket available for the KTM. Good Luck.
