The Kenda "Millville" front and rear is a very effective and universal tire combination. We'll put a "Southwick" on the rear for very muddy or sandy conditions. If the ground is very rocky, hard, or dry, I prefer the "Carlsbad" front and rear.
We researched and tested to find the lightest, strongest and most durable sprockets available. The 13 tooth front and 48tooth rear Dirt Tricks "Ironman" sprockets fit the bill; and they have the best durability of any sprocket we've ever seen. Now we see why they're guaranteed for a year.
W.E.R. (Works Enduro Riders)
The W.E.R. guys found the perfect suspension valving for cross-country racing; my new '06 YZ 250 handles great now. The W.E.R. steering stabilizer keeps me stable in the fast sections, and keeps my front end from deflecting off roots and rocks. The added stability gives me the confidence to ease my grip, and that decreases fatigue.
We've used the Maxima K2 premix oil and MLT 75wt tranny oil for five years now, and we've never had an engine failure. That says a lot.
The Barnett clutch kits hold up great and provide excellent clutch control; even under very abusive off-road racing conditions.
The Fasst Co. Flexx handlebars soften the blow on big hits. It also decreases arm fatigue. I use the red bumpers, which are fairly firm. They work great for big GNCC slams and g-outs.
The EBC sintered brake pads have an excellent feel and last very well, especially in long muddy races.
The Fastway F3 foot pegs are a nice big platform, and mud falls through really well. We use the shorter screws in the front row, which allows more shifting and braking mobility; the long screws in the rest of the peg's platform really holds your boots in place. Their handgaurds are very easy to mount and do a great job of protecting my hands.
The Cometic gaskets fit perfect, and keep my engine sealed up tight. Best of all they sell complete kits, so you don't have to worry about ordering separate gaskets.
The Clarke 3.1 gal. fuel tank is very comfortable. It gives me over an hour and a half of wide-open racing and two hours in tight woods. The best part about the tank is that you can get to the spark plug easily. Their Dry Break system makes refueling quick and simple.
I use the FMF Gnarly pipe for increased bottom and mid range power. Also it's extra thick gauge steel holds up to my off-road log and rock slamming. The Power Core II silencer works great.
The Regina GPZ chain is extremely strong and durable, and dependable.
The CRD radiator guards are the best, because they support the front, sides and rear of the radiator without hindering airflow.
No-Toil air filters have great airflow and rim seal; my engines have never sucked dust through. Their unique cleaning system makes cleaning very easy; we just put them in the washing machine, pour in a half cup of cleaner, and push the button. A half hour latter they're done.
The Zip-Ty rear disc guard is very strong and fits great. Their wheel spacers keep wheel bearings cleaner and also stay in place well; they along with the rear wheel adjusters make wheel changing easy. Their rotary fuel tank valve is almost impossible to break, even if you accidentally kick it during a race. I also use their radiator braces along with the CRD braces for added strength.
Carbon Fiber Works trick looking frame guards protect my frame and also give me a little extra grip for my boots.
SDG seats fit like stock, and are very durable, comfortable and look great. I also really like their grips.
I run the Yamaha YZ-250 2-stroke because it's light, powerful, dependable, and handles great.
Their plastic chain guide is very strong and you don't have to worry about derailing your chain like a metal one can when it gets bent. I also use their very strong, long lasting chain rollers, chain sliders, and case savers.
I didn't want to worry about getting flat tires anymore, so I checked into Tire Balls. They've been working great for me; and their surprisingly durable. Installation is pretty easy with 2 big tire irons and a few sets of long-nosed vise grips.
The Hammer Head shift lever is stronger than stock, and it has great length adjustability. I wear a size 13 boot, so the plus 10mm shift tip fits perfect.
SFB engine covers strengthen my engine, and protect it against gnarly rocks and crashes.
The Utah Sport Cycle skid plate is rugged enough to protect my engine from whatever the gnarly trails throw at it.
The Synergy fork seals are the longest lasting seals we've ever used. There's hardly any stiction with these seals, which provides smoother suspension operation.
I use the G2 Ergo Throttle Cam System, with the #200 cam, to tame down the 2-stroke "hit". Now it tracks very well through gnarly sections and all the top-end power is there when I need it.
The guys at Transient Motorwerx ported my YZ cylinder and shaved the head, which made a big improvement in the low and mid-range power, without affecting the durability of my engines.
I use their 9 ounce flywheel weight to tame down the 2-stroke "hit".
I use the Acerbis plastics because they are extremely durable, and the fit is excellent.
Their fork covers keep mud from destroying my fork seals, and the "Slop Stopper" handgaurd covers keep the mud off my hands in the sloppy races. They also have a very nice bolt-on battery operated lighting system that quickly turns your MX bike into an Enduro bike.
Outerwears have an excellent cover that we use to put over our air filter to keep all the dirt, dust and water off of it. Now we change and clean the air filters only half as much as we used to, and I never drown out in deep water races.
Race Tools makes a very strong "brake snake" that I use; it keeps vines and trees from getting wedged in my brake pedal. We also use their Y-handle wrenches, muffler plugs, muffler packing, fork tools, steering stem nut wrench, rear axel bolt wrench, and the list goes on.
