A lot has happened since I last updated you about the Los Angles Sheriff's Deputies 24 Hour Team bike build. The Sheriff's VIDA bike was unveiled at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach and got on TV. Some of my friends at school saw me on TV and thought I was cool. I also went through an issue of Dirt Rider magazine and saw some funny characters. I realized that this bike build project is similar to what I want as a profession when I get out of school - construction. And I've been anxiously waiting for the 24 Hour Torture Test to begin. The VIDA Sheriff's motorcycle team and I have had a lot going on.
The VIDA bike was officially unveiled at the Long Beach Convention Center on December 8th during the International Motorcycle Show. Jesse James was there to show his support for the Sheriff's program, and the event got on the Los Angeles news. A Couple of friends saw me on TV. One of them wrote on my locker, "Mr. Big Shot." Another friend gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek - I know what you're thinking, but she's a girl. A third friend ran up to me and asked for an autograph. Being on TV was good for the bike and fun for me.
I was recently flipping through Dirt Rider Magazine for the first time (sorry Dirt Rider guys) and I saw that there are some funny characters in off-road riding. A bunch of the riders had weird, colorful outfits that made them look like clowns. One guy in an ad thought he was Mr. Tough Guy just because he had little cuts on his hand from riding bikes. This baby should try demolishing a house. Dirt Rider magazine is a fun magazine to go through, but can look a little strange for someone who's never seen this stuff before.
I realized the VIDA Sheriff's bike build was a lot like construction work. When you're building a bike, just like building a house, you have to stay focused. Any little mistake could mess up the whole project. Another big thing in both kinds of building is teamwork. With teamwork you will get the job done properly because there are people that work with you that know things that you might not know. In building a bike and in building a house there's a lot of dedication needed and you can't give up until the job is done right. The VIDA Sheriff's bike build and construction work are very similar.
I am really looking forward to the start of the race. At the convention center at the bike's unveiling I was reminded that the race is coming up pretty soon - at the end of January. I can only imagine how exciting it's going to be to see the bike go off on its 24 hour journey. I can't wait for that green flag.

Dirt Rider magazine was fun to go through and I saw some "clowns" that made me laugh (Sorry. Most of you guys look cool, but some of the riding gear is just too colorful). Most importantly this build has given me good experience that relates to my future profession. But the race better hurry up and start because I can't wait.
