Dirt Rider Editor Jimmy Lewis may once have been known as "the guy who got third in Paris to Dakar," but he redefined his claim to fame during the first-ever U.S. Endurocross. A slight mishap on an aqueous log crossing sent him headfirst into the Pro Circuit Pool during the timed qualifying lap, and now he will always be known as "the guy whose head went completely underwater at Endurocross."
Several theories are circulating to explain Lewis' bizarre crash:1. He maintains he was told the pool was filled with beer.2. He was trying to invent a move, coined the Scuba Scrub, over the log.3. He's simply dedicated to thoroughly testing products, here determining a One Industries helmet's water solubility.
Whatever the true reason, Lewis was a good sport about the incident, wearing a rubber ducky from the pool on his helmet throughout the evening. At least it was only in front of the entire off-road industry, pro riders and press instead of someplace embarrassing. We'll soak you with the full event details in next month's issue!
