If you have ever been confused by the orientation of your late-model KTM's air filter mounting, well, we're in the same club. For some reason the stock cage and filter seem to be able to fit into the boot a number of ways, and even when in correctly it is easy to have the back unseated if you are not careful. As easy as it is to service, it is just as easy to make a mistake and suck dirt.
Twin Air must have noticed this because it has a sano kit that uses its own air filter cage and unique filter. This setup easily fits in the stock airboot only one way, and its fit is much more secure and solid than stock. The filter is the same high quality as stock (since Twin Air makes the standard KTM filter), and if anything, it is just a bit smaller overall. I could not notice any difference in performance from the elimination of the screen from the stock cage of a KTM four-stroke compared to the Twin Air design nor did the kit seem to gain any sort of power advantage on a two-stroke. And the filter did not get any dirtier any quicker due to its size.
The $149.95 price may seem a little steep for a filter and cage, but just one mistake with the stock filter and cage getting misaligned allowing dirt in the motor will make this seem like a small price to pay for getting the filter right. Replacement pre-oiled filters are $38.95, which is in line with standard.
