I 'm sure that I speak for 99 percent of all riders out there when I say that I hate getting roosted. You'd think that with how much racing I do (translation: how much I get pelted) that I'd be used to it by now, maybe even enjoy it. Not so. Billy Frank, a racer out of the East Coast, obviously feels the same way as I do because he created this unique visor extender to help protect against mud, dirt and rock showers.

Here's how it works: You simply take 3/16-inch drill bit, drill some holes and attach the shatterproof extender to your helmet's existing visor with the supplied screws. In muddy conditions, the extender works like a taped-on goggle lens, yet is easily removable with no sticky aftereffects. Frank recommends not mounting his visor more than 3 inches out, but we tried an easy 4 inches in mud with no issues. The clear visor is easy to see through, as durable as a goggle lens and catches a surprising amount of roost. Even when the track is dry, it keeps quite a few rocks and dirt clods from entering your special space bubble. On the fl ip side, the square visor looks sort of dorky and it catches an annoying amount of wind on uphills and high-speed sections. But for $15.99 and a lot less dirt spray in my face, that's a great trade-off! -Chris Denison
