Jeff Ward Racing News Release
Despite having to ride through an arm and wrist injury sustained during the last couple rounds, DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing rider Kyle Chisholm managed to ride to a steady 11th place finish Saturday night at Century Link Field in Seattle for round 15 of the 2012 AMA Supercross season, an FIM World Championship, to give the team its highest finishing position of the night after his teammate Josh Grant saw his night come to an unfortunate early end on lap 3.
While battling hard in the top-15 and making a charge, Grant tangled with Robby Kiniry in which both riders hit the ground after the contact. Due to the collision, Grant’s bike lost the throttle housing and brake pedal, which forced him to retire his night early. After coming off a second place podium finish the weekend before in New Orleans, Grant would finish an unfortunate 18th.
Leading up to the SX Main, Grant finished his SX Group A first qualifying practice 10th fastest with a lap time of 56.712. Chisholm, who was also in SX Group A finished his first qualifying practice 19th fastest with a lap time of 57.743. In their final SX Group A qualifying practice both riders picked up time and speed with Grant finishing the final session 14th quickest with a lap time of 55.995 and Chisholm finishing the final qualifying session 15th quickest with a lap time of 56.227.
Those times put Grant 14th fastest overall in SX Heat 1 and Chisholm 15th fastest overall in SX Heat 2. Both riders put together solid Heat races with Grant finishing seventh in SX Heat 1 and Chisholm finishing fourth in SX Heat 2 solidifying two entries in the SX Main for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team.
Chisholm’s 11th place finish in the SX Main keeps him 11th in series points with 139, seven points outside of the top-10. Grant’s 18th place finish keeps him 19th in series points. Up next for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team is St. Lake City, Utah for round 16 on April 28.
