The first ever Awesomeness Competition was held Saturday, May 21st at the National Enduro in Bismark, Arkansas. – News Release
Dallas, TX – May 25, 2011 -The first ever Awesomeness Competition was held Saturday, May 21st at the National Enduro in Bismark, Arkansas. The Awesomeness Competition was a huge success for us at Seat Time and for the riders and their families.
The 100m Row was the heavy hitter for most of the people waiting at sign up. We had some rowing newbs and we had some rowing veterans, all of which were smiling and rowed their hearts out. There were quite a few rowers as well who kept coming back trying to get back to the top of the leaderboard. But once Alex McRee laid down a 15 second flat 100m sprint, everyone knew they were competing for 2nd place. When 3:45 came around, Alex McRee was still on top of the leaderboard. Jeremiah Stone gave it one more go and got a 16.5, edging out Vic Flegel’s 17.3 time by a few 100th of a second. It was great to see all the kids and wives getting into the action as well.
The Tire Changing station didn’t see as many visitors as the Rowing station did, but the competition was still fierce. We tried to keep it as simple as possible. Competitors had to take one side of the tire off, remove the tube, place it back in the tire, remount the tire and then air up the tube. Pinch flats were abundant and a risk for disqualification. Vic Flegel, our 3rd place rower, was the one to beat on the tire change. He came in and laid down a 2:40. Randy Merren, who was the first to step up to the Tire Change station, was our 2nd place finisher with a 3:35 and Jeremiah Stone was 3rd with a 4:40. Thanks to all of our Tire Changing Competitors, it was fun to watch everyone and their different techniques.
The Awesomeness Competition was a ton of fun and we had some great prizes thanks to FLY Racing, SMS Racing, Maxxis, Matrix Concepts and SCOTT Sports. We at Seat Time are always looking to have fun and enjoy our great sport of riding motorcycles. We wanted to find a way to help promote our sport and to make the Saturday before the race a bit more interesting. We feel that we accomplished those goals and are looking forward to the next time we have a chance to do this. Congrats to Alex McRee and Vic Flegel on being the most Awesome!
