Marc de Reuver of the Lanes Kawasaki Team has had mixed fortunes at the first round of the British Championship Series at the Fatcat Motopark. Marc made a crash in all three motos. In the first and second moto he still managed to finish the race in fifth and seventh position respectively but in the final moto he was forced to retire from the race.
The circuit at the Fatcat Motopark was sandy so Marc had a lot of confidence when he went out on the track. During the practice session he took his time to get used to the track and to find the right lines. Finally he set the seventh fastest time in the superpole.
In the first moto he took a good start and came out of the first corner in third position. Unfortunately he crashed in the second lap and dropped back to 13th position. After the crash Marc found his rhythm and started a charge back to the front. He gave everything he had and worked his way back up to fifth position. Marc made a small mistake in the penultimate lap and dropped back to sixth position but in the last lap he was able to pass the rider back to cross the finish line in fifth position.
In the second moto he took a good start again and was just behind the three leaders in fourth position. It didn’t took him long to move up to third position but soon after things went wrong for Marc. There was a pole in the middle of the track which he couldn’t avoid. Marc rode over the pole but it got stuck in his rear wheel and before he knew it he was on the ground. After the crash he tried to come back and with several nice passing manoeuvres he finished the race in seventh position.
In the final moto of the day he was motivated to do well. His start was good again and he went into the first corner around fifth position. On the bumpy track he worked his way back up to second in the beginning of the race. Unfortunately this wasn’t for long because Marc made a big crash and was in a lot of pain. When he picked up his bike he decided to retire from the race.
Marc finished eleventh overall in the first round of the British Championship Series. Next weekend he will race the third round of the Dutch Open Championship Series in Heerde.
