Metzeler Six Days Extreme wins the Enduro World Championship in E3 class with Mike Ahola, in Juniors category with Jeremy Joly and in Women’s class with Ludivine Puy

October 7, 2011, Mende (France) – In the last race of the Enduro World Championship (EWC) which was held in Mende, France, Metzeler earned another World Championship with riders Mika Ahola (Honda-HM) who triumphed in E3 class, Jeremy Joly (HM-Honda) in the Juniors category and Ludivine Puy (Gas Gas) in the Women’s category.

Finnish rider Mika Ahola (HM-Honda team) earned his championship on Metzeler’s Six Days Extreme tire and was crowned in France after a fantastic season including nine wins and six podiums in total. Ahola has closed the Championship with 369 points, 57 more than his direct opponent, Frenchman Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas), always on Six Days Extreme. This past weekend, Mika Ahola won both races ahead of Alex Salvini (Husqvarna) and Marko Tarkkala (Husaberg) on Saturday and Sunday.

Ahola’s victory will be remembered in the history of the Enduro World Championships as he is the first rider to have won a title in each class.

The championship weekend has given great satisfaction to Metzeler, not only due to Ahola’s brilliant performance, but due to wins in the other two categories of EWC. In fact, in the EW class reserved for women, French rider Ludivine Puy (Gas Gas team) was equipped with Metzeler Six Days Extreme for her second year in the world circuit, and won six out of six racers, closing the world championship ahead of Laia Sanz (HM-Honda) and Blandine Dufrene (Gas Gas), obtaining her second consecutive World Title. Metzeler Six Days Extreme tires also triumphed in the Junior class where Jeremy Joly (HM-Honda team), a young Frenchman, won the team title.

The French weekend has delivered a total of three wins for Metzeler (two with Mika Ahola and one with Rodrig Thain), two second places (Eero Remes and Cristobal Guerrero) and three third places (Cristobal Guerrero, Eero Remes and Ivan Cervantes).

In addition to the successes of the three World Champions in 2011, the Metzeler Six Days Extreme found success in the two remaining classes of the Enduro World Championship: in the E1 class where Finn Eero Remes (KTM) took second place in the overall standings and in the E2 category where Spaniard Cristobal Guerrero (KTM) won the title of vice-champion of the world.
