The 2009 Indy Dealer Expo is in full swing, and the show has already turned out a number of radical, new and just plain cool products from the best companies in the industry. Following, in no particular order, is the first round of cool new products that I spotted at the show today. Be ready to vote on these bad boys early next week when we post the final collection of cool goodies from the Indy show. But for now, quit reading this intro and check out the goods!
1. Maxxis Maxxcross Radial SI Tire
An industry first for off-road motorcycle tires, Maxxis released their new Maxxcross Radial SI less than an hour ago. This wild new construction allows the tire to have a larger contact patch, which as you can imagine works to give the bike more control and better ride comfort in off-road applications. The SI in the title refers to the Soft/ Intermediate compound of the tire. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to give this thing a shot on the trail!
2. Ogio Bike Stand
A bag company that makes bike stands? Believe it! Ogio products are no joke, and the renowned company has ventured into the bike stand market with this cool new product. Built for those who don’t care to lift 250 lbs. constantly, the new Ogio stand allows the user to simply ride or push his bike into the stand, which then rolls underneath the frame rails. I played around with this thing for a while and was like a kid in a freakin’ toy store. Wait until you see it in action, you’ll be as amazed as I was.
3. One Industries Defcon Gear
Although it was released before the Indy show, One Industries’ Defcon gear is definitely some of the sharpest apparel here. Great colors and unique style have made this setup a hot item for sharp-eyed onlookers and dealers alike. With more colorways than you can imagine and a lineup of helmets to match, One definitely has it going on with the Defcon setup.
4. Spy Targa Mini Goggle
I’m not a kid anymore, but if I were I definitely would have stolen the Targa Mini Goggle from the Spy booth. Spy has countless designs on display, but something about this goggle caught my eye. Pink, green and orange aren’t easy to pull off, but Spy has pulled the combo off with—dare I say—flying colors.
5. Cycra M2 Recoil Handshield
Meet Ryan. Ryan works for Cyrca, the elite group of super-inventors who threw down the M2 Recoil Handshield. What’s so great about this handguard? Well, aside from being just plain awesome, the M2 also features a recoil spring that allows the shield to bend in a fall; they even work with folding levers! For those of us who crash (and let’s be honest, that’s all of us) the Cycra M2s are a practical, functional piece of equipment.
6. EVS Takt Helmet
While walking past the EVS booth this morning, I heard a faint voice yell “Hey!” I stuck my head in to see what the racket was and spotted this wild new paint scheme on EVS’ Takt helmet. In addition to the fact that this lid features unique collarbone protection, scores of air vents and EVS-tough construction, the Takt just looks awesome. If red isn’t your deal, they had plenty of other designs available, but in my opinion this sucker takes the cake. Bling-blam!
7. Alpinestars Tech 10 Boots
Granted, you’re probably well familiar with Alpinestar’s famed Tech 10 boots. But have you seen them in red, blue and green? These sweet new colors are a smart improvement to an already outstanding product, as riders now have the choice to match their bikes or go with a little accenting action. Whatever your flavor, there’s no denying that these A-stars boots look S-H-A-R-P.
8. Motion Pro Revolver Variable Throttle Rate Kit
Now this is cool: Riders who want to change their throttle rate for varying conditions can now do so with absolute ease, thanks to Motion Pro. The Revolver Variable Throttle Rate Kit allows the rider to swap between four different reel sizes that allow him or her to fine tune a bike’s throttle feel without even adjusting the cables. Built with quality in mind and designed for those who aren’t afraid to play around with their setup, this full kit features everything you need to start adjusting your bike’s throttle rate. Trust me, this kind of thing makes a big difference once you notice it!
9. Renthal Front Brake Intellilever
You’ve read about Renthal’s innovative Intellilever in the pages of Dirt Rider, but did you know that this hot new item is now available for the front brake of your bike? Now you can match the lever to your Intellilever clutch perch and can take to the track with the complete confidence that you WILL NOT break a lever this moto! Constructed of the same materials and from a similar design as the left-side counterpart, this is one product that we were hoping we’d see from Renthal.
10. Fasst Co. Brake Clevis and Pedal Return Spring Kit
Don’t like excessive play in your brake pedal? Fasst Company’s new Brake Clevis kit can handle all your rear pedal problems. By allowing pedal resistance to be adjusted via a high-tech spring system, this snappy Kit gets rid of the slop and allows you to fine tune your brake pedal to total perfection. Gone are the days when you could only adjust your brake so much: thanks to Fasst *** this smart solution brings your control to a whole new level. Look for this hot item to be available in early march from the innovative minds that brought you the Flexx Handlebar.
