Dodge, Sycuan Casino, Hart and Huntington, Bel-Ray Racing Supercross Team Press Release
Carlsbad, CA (April 2, 2012) – Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX hosted Round 13 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship on Saturday March 31st. Josh Hill was set to return to racing this weekend but suffered an arm injury in practice that kept him out of the race, leaving Josh Hansen and Kyle Regal to represent the Dodge, Sycuan Casino, Hart and Huntington, Bel-Ray Racing Supercross Team this weekend.
Josh Hansen #100 finished Heat 1 in sixth (6th) place, earning a spot in the Main Event but then struggled to ride through his ankle injury. “I started the Main in pretty good shape. I was up in fifth or sixth-place until I ran into the back of someone, threw out my front-end and face planted. I got a little dinged up but tried to finish the race. I was making some ground when I got my bad foot caught in a rut and it just screwed me. There was nothing that I could do. I’m just riding with a lot of pain and just tried to fight through it. It’s tough for sure.” Hansen finished the night in 19th position, landing him in 13th overall.
Kyle Regal # 36 placed seventh (7th) in Heat 2 to earn an automatic spot in the Main Event. “Track position is critical in these 450-class races and I never got to the point that I was riding up front. The start was everything tonight and I just got caught up in a mess of riders. When there’s not a lot of passing you have to break from the gate clean and drag race to that first corner. It was so fast and everyone is basically running the same speeds in the pack. Overall it was an OK night. I felt good on the bike but I know we could have run inside the top-10.” Regal finished the night in 14th place.
The next Monster Energy AMA Supercross race will be held on Saturday April 14th at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA.
