Strang, Prochnau, Ramirez, Coy & Martinez Prepared For EnduroCross With FMF RPM KTM Racing Team Maxxis - GEICO EnduroCross News Release
Irvine, CA (March 16, 2012) – The FMF / RPM / KTM Racing Team Maxxis has been a part of GEICO EnduroCross for years and helped develop some of the top pro riders including Bobby Prochnau, who has been a consistent top finisher. For 2012, the team will have five riders competing in EnduroCross including Josh Strang, the 2010 GNCC champion. Here is a rundown on each of the riders:
Bobby Prochnau: The tall Canadian has been a top EnduroCross racer for several years and finished 9th in the championship in 2011. He has a no-nonsense style and uses consistency to work his way to the front of the pack. He will be competing on a KTM 300 XC Two Stroke again and looking to improve his results.
Josh Strang: The 22 year old Australian has spent five years racing the GNCC series in America and won the Championship in 2010. He won several races in 2011 and was in championship contention before a string of bad luck took him out of contention. He now moves from Suzuki to KTM and will make his first attempt at EnduroCross. He is a strong rider that should quickly make an impact at the front of the pack.
Ivan Ramirez: The Mexican Enduro champion just also races the SCORE Baja races. Teamed with Kurt Caselli on a factory backed KTM, Ramirez just became the first Mexican racer to win the SCORE San Felipe 250 overall. He will need to readjust from the 100+ mile per hour speeds to tame the EnduroCross obstacles.
Travis Coy: The California native has had several podium finishes in WORCS Pro 2 and started competing in EnduroCross in 2011. Like the rest of the team, Travis trains with Rodney Smith and his wife Lori so he is quickly developing the skills and fitness needed to move up the ranks.
Kacy Martinez: The X-Games Women’s Enduro X Bronze medalist has also won three WORCS Women’s championships. She has proven to be one of the fastest women on the track at EnduroCross and just needs to find some consistency help her get to the top step of the podium in 2012. The Women will have their own five round championship series in 2012.
Mike and Sharie Hurlbert, the owners of the RPM race team have embraced the excitement and media coverage found in EnduroCross for several years. “EnduroCross has been great for our team and allowed us to get our riders and sponsors the coverage that they need” said Hurlbert. “We have great riders again for 2012 and are really looking forward to a great season”.
