Blais Racing News Release

Blais Racing Services newest young riders for 2012, Ben Meza (16) and Sam Bangert (13) will team up to race in the 250 Expert Class and will be racing their KTM 200.  These two young racers are fierce up-and-comers with Meza winning his class championship in the 2011 AMA/Kenda National Hare & Hound Series and with Bangert placing 2nd Overall in his class in the 2011 District 37 Desert Series.  Both will compete in the 2012 AMA/Kenda National Hare & Hound Championship Series, Enduro Series, some Endurocross, and other events as well.  Both are ready to take on the race at the river!  The temps will be perfect with a high of 70 degrees and a low of 45.  The Best In The Desert “Parker 250″ is this Saturday, January 7th in Parker Arizona.  Race start time is 7:15am.  See you there!

Patty Blais, wife of team owner Chris Blais, will once again test her will as she races IronWoman style at this year’s Parker 250.  Having just soloed the Henderson race last month (90 miles), she is ready for the 160 miles she will have to complete in the Ironman Expert ATV class.  She has now soloed four BITD races totaling over 700 miles and has logged in over 10,000 miles in the last 13 years of racing desert.
 
“I soloed this race in 2007 while my husband was racing the 6,000+ mile Dakar Rally.  I figured doing 250 miles was in honor of him and my way of pushing myself also to see if I could do it.  I spent over six hours on my quad that day.  It was a fun, tiring day, and it was great.  Since I’m not getting any younger, I figure I better do this now before I won’t want to any more or before my body parts start falling off (laughs).  I have so much support from my husband, my peers, and good friends who come out to help me that it makes it easy.  You can only be as great as your support crew.”

Patty considers herself “semi-retired” but still likes to compete with her peers from time to time.  Patty will be racing against two of her peers whom she has also teamed up with in the past, Phil Dampier and Doug Bergstrom, who are also racing the Ironman Expert ATV class.  Good luck to all the racers!
