2017 Colorado 600 | Day 2 Report

Riding awesome single track and learning about ways to keep it open

The day starts early at the CO 600. All of the riders meet for a hearty breakfast at 7:00AM and the morning begins with a weather update and current trail conditions report. Riders then participate in an in depth discussion and learning session about current TPA activities and projects that the TPA is working on to keep access open and available for trail riding throughout the west. Leading the discussion on Day 2 was none other than the CO 600’s Trail Boss and the TPA’s Director of Operations Don Riggle. Afterwards riders were then given the opportunity to meet and chat with several of the Trail Guides so they could select where to ride and what kind of riding they might want to experience for their first full day of riding. Riders could choose from an active AA Enduro course, to a multitude of single-track trails or scenic old mining and jeep roads. Unique to the CO 600, is the high caliber and quality of experienced guides from which riders can ride along with and learn or improve their riding skills with. This year’s guides and mentors include a former MX/SX rider and champion Andrew Short, no less than 6 past ISDE riders and 2 Dakar Rally finishers!

As the riding day draws to a close, riders return to South Fork to prep their bikes for the next day’s adventures with support from some of the major CO 600 sponsors like KTM, Klim, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC and Dunlop tires. The evening concludes with plenty of stories and tales around the campfire. Get ready for Day 3!
